Nutella and Cream Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

Granulated sugar (Zucchero) 160g
Whole milk (Latte intero) 200g
Baking powder (Lievito in polvere) 16g
Fresh heavy cream (Panna fresca liquida) 350g
Powdered vanilla sugar (Zucchero a velo vanigliato) 100g

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cake Batter:
    Begin by breaking the eggs into a large bowl at room temperature. Add the granulated sugar and use a spatula to mix the ingredients together until they are well combined. Pour in the whole milk, ensuring it is also at room temperature, and continue mixing.

  2. Add the Dry Ingredients:
    Sift the all-purpose flour and baking powder together, then add them to the wet mixture. Stir until the batter is smooth and free of lumps, creating a consistent, slightly thick mixture.

  3. Bake the Cake:
    Grease a 22 cm round cake pan with butter and lightly flour it. Transfer the cake batter into the pan, spreading it evenly. Place the pan in a preheated oven set to 180°C (350°F) on static mode. Bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once baked, let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan.

  4. Prepare the Whipped Cream:
    While the cake is cooling, pour the fresh heavy cream into a separate bowl. Using electric beaters, begin whipping the cream until it reaches a frothy texture. Gradually add the powdered vanilla sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form, ensuring the cream is firm and smooth.

  5. Assemble the Cake:
    Once the cake has cooled, carefully cut it in half horizontally. Spread a generous layer of Nutella over the bottom half of the cake. Then, using the whipped cream, spread a portion over the Nutella layer, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.

  6. Decorate the Cake:
    Transfer the remaining whipped cream into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Use the piping bag to create decorative swirls or rosettes on the top of the cake for an elegant finishing touch.

  7. Serve and Enjoy:
    Your Nutella and cream cake is now ready to be served! Slice it into 12 pieces and enjoy the combination of rich Nutella and light, fluffy whipped cream.
