Quick & Savory Sardines with Garlic and Shallots
Simple Canned Sardines Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 small can of ABC sardines
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 small shallots
- 1/4 tablespoon salt
- Cooking oil
- A pinch of granulated sugar
- A small amount of water
Instructions:
-
Begin by finely chopping the garlic and shallots. Set aside.
-
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat.
-
Once the oil is hot, add the chopped garlic and shallots to the skillet. Sauté the aromatics until they become fragrant and turn a light golden brown. Be careful not to let them burn.
-
Season the sautéed aromatics with salt and continue cooking until they develop a slightly darker color, indicating they are well-cooked and flavorful.
-
Gently add the can of ABC sardines to the skillet. Stir to combine the sardines with the cooked aromatics.
-
Sprinkle a pinch of granulated sugar over the sardines and add a small amount of water to the skillet. The sugar will help balance the flavors and the water will prevent the dish from becoming too dry.
-
Allow the mixture to simmer until the liquid reduces and the sardines are thoroughly heated through. This will also allow the flavors to meld together beautifully.
-
Once the sauce has thickened and the sardines are cooked to your desired consistency, remove the skillet from heat.
-
Transfer the sardines to a serving dish and enjoy this simple yet flavorful dish either as a main course or a side.
This recipe highlights the convenience of canned sardines while transforming them into a delicious meal with minimal effort. Enjoy your homemade sardines!
