Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
2 packages cream cheese
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
8 ounces sour cream
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 angel food cake torn into pieces
1/2 pint strawberries
1/2 pint blueberries
1 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons almond flavoring
1 pint heavy whipping cream

Instructions:

  1. Cream Cheese Mixture:

    • In a mixing bowl, cream together the cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar until smooth.
    • Add the sour cream, vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon almond flavoring to the cream cheese mixture. Set aside.
  2. Whipped Cream:

    • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
    • Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
  3. Berry Preparation:

    • In another bowl, combine the strawberries, blueberries, granulated sugar, and 3 tablespoons of almond flavoring.
    • You can mix the berries together or keep them separate for a red, white, and blue effect. If keeping separate, divide the sugar and almond flavoring between the two bowls.
  4. Assembly:

    • In a clear glass bowl, alternate layers of the cream cheese mixture and the prepared berries.
    • Continue layering until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of berries on top.
    • Garnish the top with extra berries for a beautiful presentation.
  5. Chill:

    • Refrigerate the trifle for at least a couple of hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve chilled and enjoy the oohs and ahhs as your guests indulge in this delightful dessert!

Tips:

  • For a variation, try adding peaches along with the berries for a delicious twist.
  • Ensure the heavy whipping cream is well chilled before whipping for best results.
  • Experiment with different combinations of fruits to suit your taste preferences.
