Beef and Broccoli with Oyster Sauce
Ingredients:
- 200 grams of beef, cut into cubes
- 500 grams of broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ tablespoon granulated sugar
- Salt, to taste
For the Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
For Thickening:
- 1 tablespoon tapioca flour
- 2 tablespoons water
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Beef:
- Rinse the beef cubes under cold water and drain thoroughly. Combine the beef with the oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld.
-
Cook the Beef:
- Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the marinated beef cubes to the pan, cooking each side for about 1 minute until browned and cooked through.
-
Add Vegetables:
- Once the beef is evenly cooked, add the minced garlic and broccoli pieces. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the broccoli is tender-crisp and the garlic is fragrant.
-
Combine Ingredients:
- Pour the remaining marinade over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to ensure the sauce is evenly distributed. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
-
Prepare the Thickening Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, mix the tapioca flour with the water to form a slurry. Add this mixture to the pan used for cooking the beef and broccoli. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. If the sauce is too runny, let it cook a bit longer until it reaches the desired thickness.
-
Serve:
- Transfer the beef and broccoli to a serving plate. Drizzle the thickened sauce over the top. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes:
- To expedite cooking, briefly blanch the broccoli in boiling water for about 1 minute before adding it to the pan. This helps to speed up the stir-frying process.
- For the perfect sauce consistency, it should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon but still flow easily. If it is too runny, continue to cook it until it thickens appropriately.
Enjoy your flavorful Beef and Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal!
