Beef Teriyaki Bowl with Nasi Kongbab

Ingredients:

For the Beef Teriyaki:

  • 100 grams of high-quality beef

Marinade Ingredients (to tenderize the beef quickly):

  • 1 slice of pineapple, blended
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground garlic (optional)

Seasoning:

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small shallot, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 stalk green onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (or salt to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sweet soy sauce
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 50 ml broth
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in water (optional)

For Garnishing:

  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Chopped green onions

For Nasi Kongbab:

  • 2 cups rice
  • 1 packet Kongbab (mixed grains)
  • Water as per the rice cooker’s instructions

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Rice:

    • Begin by cooking the rice so that it is ready when the beef is done. Combine the rice and the Kongbab mixed grains in your rice cooker, add the appropriate amount of water, and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Marinate the Beef:

    • Slice the beef thinly as per your preference. Mix the beef with the blended pineapple, lime juice, and garlic (if using). Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes. Avoid marinating for too long as the beef may become mushy.
  3. Cook the Beef Teriyaki:

    • Heat a pan over medium heat and melt the margarine. Sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
    • Add the marinated beef to the pan and stir well. Incorporate the green onion and shallots, then stir to combine.
    • Add the teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, sweet soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the beef evenly.
    • Pour in the broth and stir. Cover the pan and let it simmer until the liquid is reduced and the beef is fully cooked. Adjust the seasoning to taste and turn off the heat. If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can stir in the cornstarch mixture at this point.
  4. Assemble the Bowl:

    • Scoop the cooked rice into a bowl. Arrange the cooked beef on top of the rice.
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for an added touch of flavor and presentation.
  5. Serve:

    • Your Beef Teriyaki Bowl with Nasi Kongbab is now ready to be enjoyed. Serve immediately and savor the delightful combination of tender beef and mixed grain rice. Enjoy!

Bon appétit!
