Beef Teriyaki Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500 grams thinly sliced beef (purchased pre-sliced for convenience)
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1-inch piece of ginger
- 1 large chili pepper
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (sweet kecap manis)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large onion
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Beef:
Begin by thoroughly washing the beef slices under cold water. For ease, you can use pre-sliced beef from the supermarket, which is already cut into thin strips. -
Make the Marinade:
In a food processor or using a mortar and pestle, finely grind the garlic and ginger. Combine these with the teriyaki sauce and sweet soy sauce (kecap manis). Mix well to create a flavorful marinade. -
Marinate the Beef:
Rub the marinade all over the beef slices, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let the beef marinate for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to penetrate the meat, making it more flavorful. -
Cook the Beef:
Heat a skillet or pan over medium heat and add the butter. Once the butter has melted and is bubbling, add the large chili pepper, which will infuse the dish with a mild heat. -
Sauté the Beef:
Add the marinated beef to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef starts to brown. Pour in just enough water to cover the beef and let it simmer. -
Adjust the Seasoning:
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add extra sweet soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, sugar, and salt according to your preference. This step ensures the flavor is balanced to your liking. -
Add Onions:
Once the beef is cooked through and the sauce has reduced to your desired consistency, add the chopped onion. Stir gently to mix. The onions should remain slightly crisp for added texture. -
Final Stir:
Give the dish a final stir to ensure everything is well combined and the onions are evenly distributed. -
Serve:
Your beef teriyaki is now ready to be served. Enjoy this delicious dish with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Note: Adjust the amount of chili pepper and sugar to suit your taste preferences. For a milder version, you can omit the chili pepper or reduce the sugar for less sweetness.
