Beef Bulgogi Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of beef (thinly sliced; briefly freeze to make slicing easier)
  • Butter (as needed)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, as needed)
  • Sesame seeds (to garnish)

For the Bulgogi Marinade:

  • 1 medium onion (half for blending, half for sautéing)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • Sugar (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • 2-4 bird’s eye chilies (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef: Begin by slicing the beef thinly. For easier slicing, place the beef in the freezer for a short while until it firms up but does not freeze completely.

  2. Make the Marinade: In a blender, combine half of the onion, garlic cloves, and bird’s eye chilies with a small amount of water. Blend until smooth.

  3. Marinate the Beef: Transfer the blended mixture into a bowl containing the sliced beef. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated. Add sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

  4. Allow to Marinate: Let the beef marinate for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, allowing the flavors to meld and penetrate the meat.

  5. Cook the Bulgogi: Heat a pan over medium heat and add butter. Once the butter has melted, add the remaining half of the sliced onion and sauté until it becomes translucent. Next, add the marinated beef and cook until the meat is fully cooked and starts to release some oil.

  6. Add Final Touches: Stir in chopped parsley and sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the cooked beef for a finishing touch.

  7. Serve: Serve the hot beef bulgogi with steamed rice. Enjoy this delicious Korean dish that pairs perfectly with a side of fresh vegetables or a simple salad.

This flavorful beef bulgogi is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a special meal shared with loved ones. The sweet and savory marinade combined with tender beef creates a dish that’s both comforting and satisfying.
