Dad’s Wonderful Sausage Turkey Stuffing ๐Ÿฆƒ๐Ÿด

Description: Everyone loved to come to our house for Thanksgiving because my Dad made the best stuffing! There was never any left over. This will stuff a 16 – 20 lb. turkey, plus some!

Ingredients:

1 Sausage
3 Onion
1 Celery
4 Poultry seasoning
1 Butter
1/4 Chicken livers
8 cups Water
4 – 5 Giblets
4 – 5 Turkey neck bone

Instructions:

  1. In a large pan (dutch oven), brown the sausage, scrambling while browning until the sausage is in small pieces. Do not drain!

  2. Add onion, celery, butter, poultry seasoning, chicken livers, giblets, turkey neck bone, and water.

  3. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 90 minutes.

  4. Remove livers, giblets, and neck bone. Discard the neck bone, chop livers and giblets into small pieces, and return to the stock.

  5. Put Croutettes into a large bowl.

  6. Add stock with meat and vegetables until all croutons are well moistened. You will use most if not all of the stock, as you want the croutettes to be very moist.

  7. Stuff the turkey, and put the remainder of stuffing into a 2-quart casserole dish.

  8. Bake as directed for turkey; the casserole will need 40 minutes at 350ยฐF.
