Savory Sausage-Stuffed Tofu Puffs

Chopped Sausage Stuffed Tofu (Tahu Bakso Isi Sosis Cincang) Recipe by Lintang

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Fried tofu puffs (medium-sized) 10 pieces
Garlic (finely minced) 2 cloves
Ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
Salt and sugar To taste
Chicken sausages (chopped or mashed) 5 pieces
Tapioca flour (or sago) 100 grams
All-purpose flour 50 grams
Water As needed
Spring onions (finely chopped) Optional, as desired

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough:
    In a mixing bowl, combine the tapioca flour and all-purpose flour. Add the minced garlic, ground black pepper, salt, and sugar to the mixture. Gradually add water, stirring as you go, until the dough reaches a consistency that is not too watery but still smooth and easy to work with.

  2. Add the sausage:
    Once the dough is mixed to the right consistency, fold in the chopped or mashed chicken sausages. Stir everything together until the sausage pieces are well incorporated into the dough.

  3. Stuff the tofu:
    Take each fried tofu puff and cut it in half. Carefully fill the inside of each tofu piece with the sausage dough mixture, pressing gently to ensure the filling stays in place.

  4. Steam the tofu:
    Place the stuffed tofu pieces in a steamer. Steam for about 15 minutes or until the filling is cooked through and firm to the touch.

  5. Serve and enjoy:
    Once done, remove the stuffed tofu from the steamer. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious homemade Chopped Sausage Stuffed Tofu! Optionally, garnish with finely chopped spring onions if available.

Tips:

  • You can adjust the seasoning to suit your personal taste, adding more or less salt, sugar, or pepper as desired.
  • If you prefer, you can substitute the chicken sausages with beef or pork sausages for a different flavor profile.
