Ingredients:

  • 8 quail
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 margarine
  • 1 bouillon cube
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp water

Cooking Instructions:

Step Instructions
1 Sprinkle quail with salt and pepper.
2 In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the quail on both sides in butter.
3 Dissolve the bouillon cube in boiling water, then add it to the skillet.
4 Cover the skillet, reduce heat, and let it simmer for 40 minutes or until the quail is tender.
5 Once tender, remove the quail from the skillet and set them aside.
6 Measure the pan drippings and add water if necessary to measure one cup.
7 In a separate bowl, combine the flour and 2 tbsp of water. Gradually add the pan drippings to the mixture.
8 Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and becomes bubbly.
9 Return the quail to the skillet and heat thoroughly, allowing them to soak up the flavors of the gravy.
10 Finally, remove the quail from the skillet and transfer them to a serving platter. Serve with the rich gravy poured over the top.
