Ingredients:
- 1/2 kg beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Water, enough to cover the beef
- Spices:
- 3 shallots, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed and thinly sliced
- 1/2 onion, sliced lengthwise
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 2 cloves
- 2 cm ginger, crushed
- Salt and Royco seasoning (or your preferred seasoning)
- 2 tbsp oil for frying the onions
- Vegetables:
- Carrots, sliced (preferably in larger pieces)
- Potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Celery, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: Bean threads (soun) and fried shallots for serving

Cook the Beef:
- In a large pot, add the beef and enough water to cover it. Add the crushed ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon stick.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook until the beef is tender, which usually takes about 1-2 hours, depending on the cut of meat.

- While the beef is cooking, heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots, garlic, and onion.
