Steak with Black Pepper Sauce (Simple Version)

Elevate your dinner with this savory Steak with Black Pepper Sauce. This recipe combines tender beef slices, flavorful sausages, and vegetables with a rich black pepper sauce that brings a touch of spice and depth to the dish. Perfect for a comforting meal, it pairs wonderfully with either steamed rice or crispy French fries. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams of beef (preferably thinly sliced)
  • 2 chicken or beef sausages
  • 1 large potato
  • 1 large carrot
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 onion
  • Black pepper powder (to taste)
  • White pepper powder (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Sugar (to taste)
  • 2-3 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 3 fresh chilies

Instructions:

  1. Boil the Beef and Vegetables:

    • In a pot, bring water to a boil and add the thinly sliced beef. Cook for about 10-15 minutes or until tender.
    • In a separate pot, boil the carrot and potato, cut into chunks, for about 5 minutes until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, season the boiled beef with black pepper powder, white pepper powder, and salt. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors. For a more intense flavor, you can marinate it longer.
  3. Cook the Beef and Sausages:

    • Heat a non-stick skillet (teflon) over medium heat and add a bit of margarine.
    • Add the marinated beef and sausages to the skillet. Cook for about 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until both are well-cooked and slightly crispy.
  4. Prepare the Black Pepper Sauce:

    • Thinly slice the garlic, onion, and fresh chilies.
    • In a separate pan, heat margarine and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Sauté the garlic, onion, and chilies until fragrant.
    • Add 100-150 ml of water to the pan. Stir in black pepper powder, white pepper powder, sugar, salt, chili sauce, oyster sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly and adjust the seasoning to taste.
  5. Assemble and Serve:

    • Arrange the cooked beef, sausages, boiled potatoes, and carrots on a serving plate.
    • Pour the black pepper sauce generously over the steak and vegetables.
    • Serve hot with steamed rice or, for an alternative, replace the rice with crispy French fries (using 2-3 potatoes).

Enjoy this hearty and flavorful dish that combines simple ingredients with a rich, spicy sauce for a satisfying meal any day of the week!
