Stir-Fried Broccoli with Tofu and Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 medium-sized broccoli head
  • 2 pieces of tofu (typically used for claypot dishes)
  • A handful of fresh black ear mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Soy sauce, to taste
  • Cooking oil
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Broccoli:

    • Cut the broccoli into florets and wash thoroughly. Blanch the broccoli in hot water briefly, then drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Mushrooms:

    • Slice the black ear mushrooms according to your preference and wash them well. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Tofu:

    • Cut the tofu into thick slices (about 6 pieces from one block). Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan and fry the tofu until it develops a crispy golden-brown skin. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Garlic:

    • In the same pan, add a little oil and sauté the smashed garlic until fragrant.
  5. Add Mushrooms:

    • Add the black ear mushrooms to the pan and cook until they start to soften.
  6. Combine Ingredients:

    • Add the fried tofu to the pan, along with a small amount of water. Stir in the oyster sauce, sesame oil, and soy sauce, and mix well.
  7. Add Broccoli:

    • Gently add the blanched broccoli to the pan. Stir everything together briefly to combine and adjust the seasoning to your taste.
  8. Serve:

    • Once the broccoli is heated through and the flavors are well-mixed, remove from heat. Serve hot and enjoy!

This dish offers a delightful combination of flavors and textures, making it a versatile and satisfying meal. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, it brings together the crunchiness of broccoli, the heartiness of tofu, and the earthiness of mushrooms in a savory sauce.
