Fillet Kakap Tumis Bawang: A Flavorful Indonesian Delight

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams fillet of kakap (snapper)
  • 5 shallots, finely sliced
  • 5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Chili peppers, to taste (adjust for spice preference)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Mushroom seasoning (optional), to taste
  • Cooking oil, for frying
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish:
Begin by thoroughly washing the fillet of kakap under cold running water. Once cleaned, cut the fillet into pieces that suit your preference, whether that be larger portions or bite-sized chunks.

  2. Coat and Fry:
In a mixing bowl, dust the fish pieces with the all-purpose flour, ensuring an even coating. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, gently place the flour-coated fish into the pan and fry until golden brown and fully cooked through. Once done, remove the fish from the pan and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics:
In the same pan, with the residual oil, add the finely sliced shallots, minced garlic, and chili peppers. Sauté these ingredients until they become fragrant and the shallots turn translucent, allowing the rich flavors to develop.

  4. Combine and Season:
Once the aromatics are ready, return the fried fish to the pan. Gently toss everything together, incorporating the fish with the sautéed ingredients. Season with salt, sugar, and a sprinkle of mushroom seasoning to elevate the taste, ensuring that all elements meld harmoniously.

  5. Serve:
After a brief stir to combine all the flavors, your Fillet Kakap Tumis Bawang is ready to serve! This delightful dish can be enjoyed with steamed rice or as part of a larger spread. Enjoy your culinary creation with family and friends!

Enjoy this flavorful dish that beautifully showcases the vibrant tastes of Indonesian cuisine, perfect for any gathering or family meal!
