Telur Kecap Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs (sunny-side up)
  • 1/2 head of cabbage, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 stalk of scallion, chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 red chilies, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 2 teaspoons oyster sauce
  • Palm sugar, to taste
  • Granulated sugar, to taste
  • Seasoning (optional), to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cooking oil
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Sauté Aromatics: Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, sliced shallots, and red chilies. Sauté until fragrant and the shallots are translucent.

  2. Cook Cabbage: Add the coarsely chopped cabbage to the pan. Stir-fry until the cabbage starts to wilt and soften.

  3. Season: Pour a small amount of water into the pan. Stir in the sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) and oyster sauce. Adjust the seasoning with salt, palm sugar, granulated sugar, and optional seasoning to taste. Mix well.

  4. Add Eggs and Vegetables: Gently place the sunny-side-up eggs on top of the cabbage mixture. Add the diced tomato and chopped scallions. Let it cook briefly until everything is well heated and the flavors have melded together.

  5. Final Adjustments: Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve hot and enjoy this savory dish with rice.
