Mun Tahu Sapi (Silky Tofu with Minced Beef) Recipe

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Silky tofu (tahu sutra) 2 pieces
Minced beef 125 grams
Garlic cloves (crushed) 5 cloves
Cooking oil 3 tablespoons
Water As needed
Tapioca flour 2 tablespoons
Salt To taste
Mushroom seasoning To taste
Fish soy sauce To taste

Instructions

  1. SautΓ© the garlic:
Heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the crushed garlic cloves and sautΓ© until fragrant, ensuring not to burn the garlic by lowering the heat if needed.

  2. Cook the minced beef:
Reduce the heat slightly to avoid burning the garlic. Add the minced beef to the pan and sautΓ© until it changes color, ensuring that the beef is cooked evenly.

  3. Add the tofu and water:
Carefully add the silky tofu into the pan. Pour in enough water to just cover the tofu and beef mixture. Let it simmer until the water reaches a boil.

  4. Season the dish:
Once the mixture is boiling, add salt, mushroom seasoning, and fish soy sauce to taste. Stir the ingredients well and taste the dish to ensure the flavor is balanced.

  5. Thicken the sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the tapioca flour with a little water to create a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the pan while stirring continuously to thicken the sauce. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.

  6. Serve:
Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency and everything is well-cooked, turn off the heat. Serve the Mun Tahu Sapi warm, and enjoy this comforting dish!

Notes

  • Tofu texture: Silky tofu (tahu sutra) is delicate, so handle it gently during cooking to avoid breaking it apart.
  • Seasoning: Adjust the salt, mushroom seasoning, and fish soy sauce according to your preference to achieve the perfect savory flavor.
  • Tapioca slurry: If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can add more tapioca slurry. For a thinner sauce, reduce the amount of tapioca flour.

This Mun Tahu Sapi is a delightful and easy-to-make dish, perfect for a weeknight dinner or whenever you’re in the mood for something light yet flavorful!
