Bar-B-Qued Brisket Recipe

🕒 Cook Time: 4 hours
🕒 Prep Time: 15 minutes
🕒 Total Time: 4 hours 15 minutes

🍽️ Servings: 8

Description:

Prepare a day ahead for easier slicing. Be sure to slice across the grain. To reheat, place in microwaveable dish, top with sauce and heat on high for 3-5 minutes or until warmed, or warm in the oven at 350 degrees until sauce is bubbly. NOTE: I have also used a bottom round roast in place of the brisket. Any flavor bar-b-que sauce works well but Kraft Honey is delish!

Ingredients:

  • 5 lbs beef brisket or boneless bottom round roast
  • 1 bottle barbecue sauce
  • 18 onions
  • 4 cups orange juice
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions:

  1. Sear Brisket: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, ensuring a flavorful crust forms.

  2. Cook Onions: Add the onions to the skillet and cook until they are browned, being careful not to burn them. They will add a sweet and savory flavor to the dish.

  3. Add Barbecue Sauce: Pour the entire bottle of barbecue sauce over the seared brisket or bottom round roast. This will infuse the meat with rich, tangy flavors.

  4. Pour Orange Juice: Fill the empty barbecue sauce bottle with orange juice and pour it over the top of the roast. The acidity of the orange juice will help tenderize the meat and balance the sweetness of the barbecue sauce.

  5. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet or Dutch oven. Allow the brisket or roast to simmer gently until a knife easily pierces through the meat, approximately 4 hours for a 5-pound roast. This slow cooking method will ensure the meat becomes tender and juicy.

  6. Slice and Serve: Once the brisket or roast is cooked to perfection, remove it from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Then, slice it thinly across the grain for maximum tenderness. Serve the juicy slices of meat with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or roasted vegetables.

  7. Enjoy: Gather your family and friends around the table and savor every bite of this mouthwatering Bar-B-Qued Brisket or Bottom Round Roast. With its tender texture and bold flavors, it’s sure to become a favorite weeknight meal that you’ll crave again and again!
