Balado Nile Tilapia and Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg fresh Nile tilapia
  • 2 large blocks of tofu, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • Balado Spice Mix:
    • 5 shallots
    • 4 garlic cloves
    • 10 red chilies
    • 1 tomato

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish: Clean and cut the Nile tilapia into manageable pieces. Rub the pieces with lime juice and a pinch of salt to season.

  2. Fry the Fish and Tofu: Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside. In the same oil, fry the tofu pieces until they are golden and slightly crispy. Set aside with the fish.

  3. Prepare the Balado Sauce: Blend shallots, garlic, red chilies, and the tomato until smooth. Heat a pan with a little oil and sauté the blended mixture until fragrant. Adjust the seasoning to taste.

  4. Combine: Gently add the fried fish and tofu into the pan with the balado sauce. Stir well to ensure all pieces are evenly coated with the sauce. Continue to cook for a few more minutes until everything is heated through and well-mixed.

  5. Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy your Balado Nile Tilapia and Tofu with steamed rice.
