Broccoli with Egg and Cornstarch

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized broccoli
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 3 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 red chilies, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in a little water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (Saori)
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and a pinch of salt. Cook for about 5-10 minutes until the broccoli is tender but still vibrant green. Drain and arrange the broccoli in a serving dish.

  2. Sauté the Aromatics: In a skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Add the garlic, shallots, and red chilies. Sauté until fragrant and golden.

  3. Make the Sauce: Crack the egg into the skillet and scramble with the aromatics. Stir in the soy sauce and a bit of water. Cook for a minute, then add the cornstarch mixture. Continue to stir until the sauce thickens.

  4. Assemble the Dish: Pour the sauce over the arranged broccoli on the serving dish, ensuring it is well-coated.

  5. Serve: Enjoy your broccoli with egg and cornstarch as a delightful side dish or light main course.

This recipe blends the crispiness of broccoli with a savory, slightly spicy sauce, creating a deliciously unique dish that’s both easy to prepare and pleasing to the palate.
