Tahu Dangdut Recipe
Ingredients:
- 250 grams white tofu, diced
- 8 green bird’s eye chilies, sliced into rounds
- 3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- ½ teaspoon ground pepper
- Salt, sugar, and seasoning to taste
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in a little water
- 100 ml water
For the spice paste:
- 2 large green chilies
- 2 green bird’s eye chilies
- 3 cloves garlic
Instructions:

Prepare the Spice Paste: Blend the large green chilies, bird’s eye chilies, and garlic until smooth.

Cook the Spice Paste: Heat a pan over medium heat and sauté the spice paste until fragrant and cooked through.

Add Liquids and Seasonings: Pour in the water, then stir in the sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, ground pepper, salt, sugar, and seasoning. Mix well.

Incorporate Tofu and Chilies: Add the diced tofu and sliced bird’s eye chilies. Adjust the seasoning to taste. Bring to a boil.

Thicken the Sauce: Pour in the cornstarch slurry and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce has thickened.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve hot.
Note: Don’t skip any of the chilies as they add essential flavor and heat to the dish. For extra spiciness, feel free to add more chilies according to your taste!
