Sardines with Fried Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 1 small can of sardines
  • 2 pieces of tofu, fried until golden
  • Spice Paste:
    • 7 shallots, peeled and rinsed
    • 5 cloves of garlic, peeled and rinsed
    • 7 large red chilies, rinsed
    • 5 small red chilies, rinsed
    • 1 ripe tomato, rinsed
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Spice Paste: Begin by finely grinding the shallots, garlic, large red chilies, small red chilies, and tomato together to create a fragrant spice paste.

  2. Sauté the Spice Paste: In a pan, heat some cooking oil over medium heat. Add the ground spice paste and sauté until it becomes aromatic and cooked through.

  3. Add the Sardines and Tofu: Once the spices are ready, pour in approximately 100 ml of water along with the canned sardines. Gently add the fried tofu, allowing the flavors to meld.

  4. Season to Taste: Cook the mixture until heated through, then season with salt and sugar according to your taste preferences. Adjust the seasoning until it is just right.

  5. Finish Cooking: Allow everything to simmer together for a few minutes. Once the dish is well-cooked and flavorful, turn off the heat.

  6. Serve and Enjoy: Transfer your sardines and tofu to a serving dish, and enjoy this delightful meal as a comforting main course.
