Telor Kuah Lahar (Egg in Spicy Sauce)

Ingredients:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 sausage (your choice, sliced)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Chili sauce, to taste
  • Tomato sauce, to taste
  • A dash of soy sauce
  • A small amount of margarine
  • A splash of water

Instructions:

  1. Begin by slicing the onion and sautéing it in margarine until it becomes aromatic and slightly golden.
  2. Add the sliced sausage to the pan and cook until it starts to brown and is well incorporated with the onions.
  3. Stir in the chili sauce, tomato sauce, and a small splash of soy sauce. Season with salt to taste. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
  4. Pour in a splash of water (about 1/4 cup) and continue to stir, allowing the mixture to simmer and blend the flavors.
  5. Crack the egg directly into the pan, ensuring it nests in the sauce. Allow the egg to cook until it reaches your desired level of doneness—some prefer it slightly runny, while others like it fully set.
