Tumis Tempe Kacang (Stir-Fried Tempe with Long Beans)

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Tempe 2 pieces
Garlic 3 cloves
Shallots 5 pieces
Galangal To taste
Bay leaves 2 leaves
Small chili peppers To taste
Sweet soy sauce To taste
Long beans 200 grams
Water As needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Cut the tempe into small cubes. Thinly slice the shallots and garlic. If you enjoy a bit of heat, chop the small chilies; otherwise, leave them whole for a milder flavor. For those who prefer a spicier dish, you may add larger chili peppers as well.

  2. Fry the Tempe: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the tempe until it is lightly golden and semi-cooked, then set aside.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same pan, add the sliced shallots, garlic, chilies, galangal, and bay leaves. Sauté until the shallots are translucent and fragrant. If you are using whole chilies for less heat, add them later in the process.

  4. Add the Long Beans: Toss in the long beans and if you’re not adding the chopped chilies, include the whole ones now. Stir-fry until the beans are half-cooked and vibrant.

  5. Combine Everything: Add the fried tempe back into the pan along with sweet soy sauce. Stir-fry everything together until well mixed and the tempe is fully cooked.

  6. Taste and Serve: Adjust seasoning if necessary. Once done, your Tumis Tempe Kacang is ready to be served. Enjoy this delightful dish!

Happy Cooking! 😊
