Sweet and Sour Chicken with Tempeh Delight

Ayam & Tempe Sweet and Sour

Ingredients:

Ingredient Amount
Chicken (cut into pieces) 1/2 kg
Ginger (crushed) 1 piece
Tempeh (cut into pieces) 1 block
Garlic cloves 3 cloves
Bird’s eye chili 1 chili
Sugar To taste
Salt To taste
Sesame oil 1 tablespoon
Oyster sauce To taste
Tomato sauce To taste
Tomato 1 tomato, chopped
Water As needed
Onion (sliced) 3 cloves
Lime juice 1 tablespoon
Ground black pepper To taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken and Tempeh:

    • Cut the chicken and tempeh into bite-sized pieces.
    • Boil the chicken in water until it’s fully cooked and tender. Set aside.
  2. Make the Sweet and Sour Sauce:

    • In a pan, sauté garlic, ginger, onions, lime juice, bird’s eye chili, and chopped tomatoes.
    • Add sesame oil, oyster sauce, and tomato sauce to the mixture.
    • Season the sauce with sugar, salt, and ground black pepper to taste.
    • Pour in water as needed to adjust the consistency of the sauce.
  3. Combine and Cook:

    • Add the boiled chicken to the sweet and sour sauce, stirring well to coat the chicken.
    • Next, add the tempeh, ensuring it’s cooked evenly in the sauce until tender and flavorful.
  4. Serve:

    • Once everything is cooked through, your Ayam & Tempe Sweet and Sour dish is ready to be served.
