Grilled Gourami with Sweet and Sour Sauce
Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
- 1 large gourami fish (scaled and cleaned)
Marinade:
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 pinches of salt
- 1 pinch of ground pepper
Grilling Glaze:
- 2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for sautéing
- 3 tablespoons chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon mushroom seasoning powder
Instructions
-
Prepare the Fish:
- Clean the gourami fish thoroughly, ensuring all scales are removed. Make shallow cuts on the fish’s skin to help the marinade penetrate the flesh.
-
Marinate:
- Squeeze the juice of one lime over the fish, then sprinkle salt and ground pepper evenly over the body of the fish. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes either at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
-
Prepare the Grill:
- Preheat your grill or grilling pan. While it’s heating up, mix the ingredients for the grilling glaze: vegetable oil, sweet soy sauce, and oyster sauce.
-
Grill the Fish:
- Brush the marinated fish with the grilling glaze. Place it on the grill or grilling pan, cooking it over medium heat. Flip the fish occasionally, until it is thoroughly cooked and has a nice charred exterior.
-
Make the Sauce:
- In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until softened and translucent.
- Stir in the chili sauce and oyster sauce, adding a splash of water to prevent the mixture from burning. Incorporate the mushroom seasoning powder and adjust the taste as needed.
-
Serve:
- Arrange the grilled gourami on a serving plate and pour the prepared sauce over the top. Serve with a plate of warm rice for a complete and delightful meal to share with loved ones. Enjoy!
This Grilled Gourami with Sweet and Sour Sauce is a perfect blend of savory, tangy, and slightly sweet flavors, making it a fantastic choice for a memorable meal with family and friends.
