Ingredients
Ingredient | Amount |
---|---|
Tempe (fermented soybeans) | 1 pack |
Long green beans (kacang panjang) | 5 pieces |
Red onion (bawang merah) | 2 cloves |
Garlic (bawang putih) | 2 cloves |
Red chili (cabe merah) | 1 piece |
Royco chicken seasoning (optional) | to taste |
Cooking oil (minyak goreng) | as needed |
Salt | to taste |
Sugar | 1 tsp |
Instructions

- Begin by slicing the tempe into long strips, and the long green beans into bite-sized pieces.
- Next, thinly slice the red onion, garlic, and red chili. Set them aside.
- In a large pan or wok, pour in enough cooking oil to fry the tempe. Heat the oil, then add the tempe pieces. Fry the tempe until it is golden brown and crispy on all sides, ensuring it is cooked through.
- Once the tempe is crispy and cooked, remove it from the pan and set aside on a plate. Add a little more oil into the same pan, about 3 tablespoons.
- Add the sliced onions, garlic, and chili to the hot oil. Season with a pinch of salt and 1 teaspoon of sugar, stirring well to combine. Sauté until the mixture becomes fragrant and the onions are translucent.
- Add the long green beans to the pan, stirring well to coat them with the aromatics. Cook the beans for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
- Return the fried tempe to the pan, and stir everything together. Season with Royco chicken seasoning (or any preferred seasoning) to taste, and mix well.
- Cook for another minute or two, allowing the flavors to meld and the tempe to heat through.
- Once everything is well combined and cooked, transfer the dish to a serving plate and enjoy your delicious tempe oseng.
This quick and easy stir-fry is perfect as a main or side dish, offering a satisfying combination of savory, sweet, and spicy flavors.
