Hearty Beef Lasagna with Rich Bechamel Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 6 lasagna sheets (La Fonte brand)
  • 1/2 block cheddar cheese
  • 1 stick mozzarella cheese
  • 250 cc ultra milk
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cloves
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Butter or margarine (3 tablespoons)
  • La Fonte bolognese sauce (quantity as needed)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Bolognese Sauce:

  • In a skillet, sautรฉ the chopped onion in a bit of oil or butter until fragrant and translucent.
  • Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned and cooked through.
  • Stir in the La Fonte bolognese sauce, adding approximately 150 cc of water to thin it out if necessary. Mix well and let it simmer for a few minutes until the flavors meld together. Set aside.

2. Make the Bechamel Sauce:

  • In a saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  • Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture forms a smooth, golden paste (roux).
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir in the cheddar cheese until it melts completely. Remove from heat and set aside.

3. Assemble the Lasagna:

  • Preheat your oven to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF).
  • Lightly grease a 25×25 cm baking dish with a little butter or oil.
  • Spread a thin layer of the bechamel sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  • Arrange one layer of uncooked lasagna sheets over the sauce.
  • Evenly spread a layer of bechamel sauce over the lasagna sheets, followed by a layer of La Fonte bolognese sauce.
  • Add a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Repeat the layering process, finishing with a final layer of bechamel sauce and La Fonte bolognese sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle additional mozzarella cheese over the top.

4. Bake:

  • Place the lasagna in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

5. Serve:

  • Allow the lasagna to rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help it set and make it easier to cut into portions.
