Ingredients:
Quantity | Ingredient |
---|---|
1 | Powdered sugar |
1 | White sugar |
1 | Butter |
1/4 | Salt |
2 | Eggs |
1 | Vanilla |
2 | Baking soda |
1 | Cream of tartar |
1 | Flour |
5 | Sugar |
Instructions:
-
Cream together sugars, butter, and salt until fluffy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, white sugar, butter, and salt. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream the ingredients together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
-
Add remaining ingredients.
Once the sugars and butter are creamed together, add the eggs, vanilla, baking soda, cream of tartar, and flour to the mixture.
-
Mix well.
Mix the ingredients together until a smooth dough forms. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated.
-
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) in preparation for baking the cookies.
-
Roll 1 tablespoon of dough into a ball.
Take 1 tablespoon of dough and roll it between your palms to form a ball. Repeat this process until all the dough is used up, placing each ball onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
-
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Arrange the dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading while baking.
-
Flatten with a sugared glass bottom.
Take a glass with a flat bottom and dip it into sugar. Gently press the sugared glass bottom onto each dough ball to flatten it into a disc shape. Repeat this process for each cookie, re-sugaring the glass bottom as needed to prevent sticking.
-
Bake for 12-14 minutes – do not brown.
Place the cookie sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden brown. Be careful not to overbake; the cookies should remain soft and not browned.

Cool and Enjoy!
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, decorate with colored sugars if desired, and enjoy these delicious Mom’s Sugar Cookies with a glass of milk or hot cocoa! πͺπ₯
