Low-Calorie Chicken Steak Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 boneless chicken breast
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • A handful of edamame
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 5 tablespoons barbecue sauce (Del Monte)
  • 3 tablespoons chili sauce (Del Monte)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • White pepper, to taste
  • Lemon juice, to taste
  • Margarine, for sautéing
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Rinse the chicken breast thoroughly. Squeeze lemon juice over the chicken and let it marinate for about 30 minutes.
    • After marinating, rinse the chicken again. Season it with salt and white pepper.
    • Steam the chicken breast until fully cooked. This typically takes about 20 minutes depending on the thickness of the chicken.
  2. Cook the Potatoes and Edamame:

    • Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks. Boil them along with the edamame in salted water for 8-10 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:

    • In a pan, heat a small amount of margarine over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic and chopped onion until fragrant.
    • Add the barbecue sauce, chili sauce, and oyster sauce to the pan. Stir well to combine.
    • Season the sauce with a pinch of sugar, salt, and white pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a little water to reach your desired consistency. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the flavors meld.
  4. Serve:

    • Arrange the steamed chicken on a plate. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken.
    • Serve the chicken alongside the boiled potatoes and edamame.
