1 | Worcestershire sauce |
1/4 | cup cider vinegar |
1 | garlic cloves |
2 | garlic |
1/2 | teaspoon dry mustard |
1/2 | teaspoon chili powder |
1/4 | teaspoon cayenne pepper |
1 | onions |
2 | cups ketchup |
2 | tablespoons butter |
Instructions:
-
In a bowl, combine Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, minced garlic cloves, minced garlic, dry mustard, chili powder, and cayenne pepper.
-
Reserve 1/2 cup of the mixture for the sauce later.
-
If using chuck roast, trim excess fat.
-
Place the meat and onions into a 4-quart crock pot or Dutch oven.
-
Pour the liquid mixture over the meat.
-
For crock pot cooking: Cover and cook on high for 5-6 hours until the meat is tender and easily shredded.
-
For Dutch oven cooking: Cover and cook in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) for 3 hours, until the meat is tender.
-
Once the meat is cooked, remove it from the liquid and shred it using forks.
-
For the sauce: In a saucepan, combine the reserved liquid mixture, ketchup, and butter. Heat until the butter melts, creating a rich and flavorful sauce.
-
Serve the shredded meat with the sauce drizzled on top, or on the side for dipping.
-
Any leftover sauce can be stored in the fridge and reheated to serve alongside the meat.
