Homemade Beef Bakso
Ingredients:
- 600 g beef (original recipe calls for 250 g)
- 150 g tapioca flour (original recipe calls for 75 g)
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp Masako seasoning
- Ground white pepper (to taste)
- Garlic powder (to taste)
- Ground nutmeg (optional, skipped in this adaptation)
Instructions:
-
Blend the Beef and Egg Whites: - Place the beef and egg whites in a blender or food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

-
Combine with Other Ingredients: - Transfer the blended mixture to a large mixing bowl. Add the tapioca flour, baking powder, salt, Masako seasoning, ground white pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are well incorporated and form a cohesive dough.

-
Prepare the Cooking Water: - Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add a little oil to the water to prevent the bakso from sticking together.

-
Shape the Bakso: - Using your hands or a spoon, shape the mixture into small balls. Drop each ball into the boiling water.

-
Cook the Bakso: - Allow the bakso to cook in the boiling water. They are done when they float to the surface, indicating they are fully cooked and have a light, airy texture.

-
Cool in Cold Water: - Once the bakso float to the surface, remove them from the boiling water and immediately transfer them to a bowl of cold water. Let them sit in the cold water for about 10 minutes to firm up.

-
Serve: - Drain the bakso from the cold water and they are ready to be served. Enjoy your homemade bakso in a soup or with your favorite dipping sauce.
