Telur Gulung (School Snack)
Ingredients:
- Chicken eggs
- A splash of water
- Salt
- Pepper
- (Optional: Masako seasoning, can be skipped)
- Wooden skewers
- Cooking oil (enough for frying)
Instructions:
-
Heat the Oil: Begin by heating a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan. Ensure there is enough oil for the eggs to fry comfortably.
-
Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a bowl, combine the chicken eggs with a splash of water, salt, and pepper. Whisk the mixture thoroughly until it becomes frothy and well combined. If you choose to use Masako seasoning, add it to the mixture for extra flavor.
-
Use a Bottle for Pouring: Pour the egg mixture into a plastic ketchup bottle or another squeeze bottle with a fine tip. This will help you control the flow of the egg mixture as you fry.
-
Fry the Eggs: Once the oil is hot, squeeze the egg mixture from the bottle into the pan in a swirling motion, forming long, thin strands. Use a wooden skewer to gently roll and shape the egg strands as they cook. Position the egg strands towards the edge of the pan to minimize excess oil absorption.
-
Drain and Serve: Once the egg strands are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve the telur gulung with a dipping sauce mixed with a bit of water, if desired.
Enjoy this delightful Indonesian school snack, perfect for a quick and tasty treat!
