Bawang putih (garlic) 4 cloves
Cabe merah (red chili) 3 pieces
Daun jeruk (lime leaves), thinly sliced 3 leaves
Lengkuas (galangal), crushed 2 finger lengths
Salt To taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spice Paste:
In a mortar and pestle or food processor, blend the red onion, garlic, red chili, lime leaves, and crushed galangal until you achieve a smooth paste. Adjust the seasoning by adding salt and sugar to taste.

  2. Mix the Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the petai, teri, diced tofu, diced tempeh, grated young coconut, and the prepared spice paste. Crack in the egg and mix everything thoroughly until well combined.

  3. Wrap in Banana Leaves:
Take a piece of the preheated banana leaf and place a portion of the mixture in the center. Fold the edges over to create a secure packet, then use a toothpick or staples to seal it.

  4. Steam the Botok:
Place the wrapped packets in a steamer. Cover and steam for about 30 minutes, or until the mixture is fully cooked and fragrant.

  5. Serve and Enjoy:
Once cooked, remove the botok from the steamer. Unwrap and serve warm, allowing everyone to savor the delightful aroma and flavors.
