Crispy Chicken Steak with Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients:

  • For the Chicken:

    • 1/2 kg chicken breast fillets
    • Crispy flour (for coating)
  • For the Barbecue Sauce:

    • 1 large onion
    • 5 cloves garlic
    • Coarsely ground black or white pepper
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
    • 4 tablespoons tomato ketchup
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
    • 200 ml water
    • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
    • Salt to taste
    • Sugar to taste
    • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • For Serving:

    • Steamed carrots and green beans

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Coat the chicken breast fillets with crispy flour.
    • Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the coated chicken fillets until golden brown and cooked through. Set aside.
  2. Make the Barbecue Sauce:

    • Finely chop the onion and garlic.
    • In a saucepan, melt the margarine over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté until fragrant.
    • Stir in the tomato ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sweet soy sauce, and oyster sauce.
    • Add the coarsely ground pepper to taste.
    • Dissolve the cornstarch in the water and add this mixture to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
    • Cook the sauce, stirring frequently, until it comes to a boil and thickens to your desired consistency. Adjust seasoning with salt and sugar as needed.
  3. Serve:

    • Pour the barbecue sauce over the crispy chicken fillets.
    • Garnish with steamed carrots and green beans.
    • Serve hot and enjoy!
