Special Fried Tempeh and Tofu Recipe

Ingredients

For Boiling the Tofu and Tempeh:

Bay leaves 2 leaves
Water Enough to cover tofu and tempeh

Celery leaves (chopped) To taste

Instructions

Step 1: Boil the Tempeh and Tofu

  1. Prepare the boiling mixture by finely grinding the garlic and ginger, and combine them with bay leaves, salt, and sugar. Adjust the sugar if you prefer a less sweet flavor.
  2. Place the tempeh and tofu into a pot, add water until they are submerged, and bring it to a boil. Cook until the water is reduced and absorbed by the tempeh and tofu, allowing the flavors to infuse.
  3. Once the water has mostly evaporated and the tempeh and tofu have absorbed the seasoning, remove them from the heat.

Step 2: Prepare the Batter

  1. In a bowl, combine the Sajiku fried chicken batter mix with enough water to form a smooth batter. It should not be too thick or too runny—aim for a consistency that will coat the tofu and tempeh evenly.
  2. Add finely chopped celery leaves to the batter for extra flavor and a touch of freshness.

Step 3: Fry the Tempeh and Tofu

  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Make sure the oil is hot enough to fry the tempeh and tofu until golden brown.
  2. Coat the boiled tempeh and tofu in the prepared batter.
  3. Carefully place the battered tempeh and tofu into the hot oil. Fry until they turn golden and crispy on the outside.
  4. Once cooked, remove the fried tempeh and tofu from the oil and drain them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Step 4: Serve
