| Breadcrumbs | 100g |
| All-purpose flour | 4 tablespoons |
| Egg | 1 |
| Spices (ground) | |

| Black pepper | 1/2 teaspoon |
| Salt | to taste |

| Breadcrumbs | 150g |
| All-purpose flour | 4 tablespoons |
| Water | as needed |
Instructions
- Steam the Tempe: Begin by steaming the tempe for 15 minutes to soften it.
- Mash the Tempe: Once steamed, mash the tempe using either a mortar and pestle or a blender until it reaches a smooth consistency.
- Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed tempe with the ground spices, egg, all-purpose flour, and breadcrumbs. Use your hands to mix until everything is well incorporated. Don’t forget to taste and adjust the seasoning.
- Steam the Mixture: Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and steam for an additional 15 minutes.
- Cut into Pieces: After steaming, allow it to cool slightly and then cut the mixture into your desired nugget shapes.
- Prepare Coating: Set up two bowls: one with all-purpose flour mixed with a little water to create a thick batter, and the second with breadcrumbs.
- Coat the Nuggets: Dip each nugget first into the flour batter, then roll it in the breadcrumbs until evenly coated.
- Fry: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the nuggets until they are golden brown and crispy.
Tips
For a less oily result, skip the egg in the coating mixture to prevent the frying oil from bubbling excessively.
Enjoy your delicious Nugget Tempe, a delightful and nutritious plant-based treat!
