Ingredients

  • 125 g Tuna (fresh or canned)
  • 125 g Napa Cabbage (Sawi Putih), chopped
  • 125 g Bok Choy (Pakcoy), chopped
  • 1 packet Bird’s Nest Noodles (Mie Burung Dara)
  • Fried shallots (optional, for garnish)

Seasoning

  • 5 cloves Garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1 large Chili pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 Tomato, diced
  • 2 Bird’s Eye Chilies (Cabe Rawit), sliced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Oyster sauce, to taste
  • Soy sauce, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Noodles: Begin by boiling the Bird’s Nest Noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

  2. Prep the Vegetables: While the noodles are cooking, wash and chop all the vegetables, including the Napa cabbage and Bok Choy. Make sure to drain any excess water.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet or wok, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant. Introduce the diced tomato and large chili pepper, cooking until the tomato softens and the mixture becomes aromatic.

  4. Add the Tuna: Once the garlic and tomato mixture is ready, add the tuna to the skillet. Stir-fry briefly until the tuna is cooked through and well combined with the other ingredients.

  5. Incorporate the Vegetables: Add the chopped vegetables to the skillet. Sauté until the greens are just tender but still vibrant in color, ensuring they retain their nutritional value.

  6. Combine with Noodles: Once the vegetables are partially cooked, add the boiled noodles to the skillet. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and sugar, adjusting the quantities to taste. Toss everything together gently to ensure an even coating of the sauces.

  7. Final Touches: Continue to stir-fry for a few more minutes until everything is heated through and well mixed. If desired, garnish with fried shallots for an extra crunch.

  8. Serve and Enjoy: Transfer your delicious Tuna Mie Goreng to a serving plate. This dish is perfect on its own or served with a side of your favorite chili sauce for an added kick.
