Ingredients:

  • 250 grams yellow moong dal
  • 1/2 cup curd, beaten
  • 50 grams spinach, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 3/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, as needed for cooking

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Begin by washing the yellow moong dal thoroughly. Soak it in water for 4-5 hours. Once soaked, drain the water and transfer the dal to a blender.
  2. Add a small amount of water and blend to make a smooth batter.
  3. Pour the batter into a mixing bowl and add the following: salt, curd, chopped spinach, onion, coriander leaves, green chilies, grated ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and lemon juice. Mix everything well until the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan and lightly grease it with oil. Once the pan is hot, pour a spoonful of the batter onto it and spread it out in a round shape.
  5. Drizzle a little more oil around the edges of the cheela and cook until both sides are golden brown and crisp.
  6. Remove from the pan and place it on a serving plate. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  7. Serve the Moong Dal Palak Cheela hot with a side of coriander-mint chutney and masala tea for a complete breakfast experience.
