Ingredients:

  • 10 tilapia fish, cleaned
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons grated palm sugar
  • Salt, to taste

Spices (ground):

  • 25 shallots
  • 20 cloves garlic
  • 34 bird’s eye chilies (adjust to taste for spiciness)
  • 180 grams curly red chilies
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 4 cm ginger

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the tilapia fish with salt and lime juice. Let it sit for a few minutes.

  2. Fry the tilapia fish until golden brown and cooked through.

  3. In a separate pan, sauté the ground spices until fragrant. Add salt and palm sugar.

  4. Adjust seasoning to taste. Add the fried tilapia fish to the pan and mix well until the fish is coated evenly with the spices.

  5. Remove from heat and serve hot.

Notes:

  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or Indonesian traditional side dishes like sambal terasi and fresh vegetables.
  • Adjust the amount of bird’s eye chilies according to your preference for spiciness.
