Spicy Tuna Balado

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium-sized Tuna steaks
  • Spice Paste:
    • 15 Bird’s eye chilies (adjust to taste)
    • 2 large Red chilies
    • 5 Shallots
    • 2 cloves Garlic
    • 2 small Tomatoes
    • Salt, to taste
    • Sugar, to taste
    • Seasoning powder, to taste
    • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the tuna steaks thoroughly until clean, then fry them until half-cooked.

  2. Prepare the spice paste: Blend bird’s eye chilies, red chilies, shallots, garlic, and tomatoes until finely chopped, but not completely smooth.

  3. Sauté the spice paste until fragrant and cooked through. Add water gradually to create a thick sauce consistency.

  4. Add the fried tuna steaks into the spice mixture. Cook over medium heat until the tuna is fully cooked and the spices have infused into the fish.

  5. Spicy Tuna Balado is now ready to be served hot.

Notes:

  • Adjust the spiciness by varying the amount of bird’s eye chilies used.
  • Serve with steamed rice for a satisfying meal.

This Spicy Tuna Balado recipe offers a delightful Indonesian twist to your dining experience, combining the richness of tuna with a bold, spicy kick from the chili paste. Perfect for those who enjoy adventurous flavors and comforting dishes that pair beautifully with rice or as part of a larger spread.
