Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized tuna (Ikan Tongkol)
  • 2 red chilies (cabal merah)
  • 1 garlic clove (bawang putih)
  • 1 large red onion (bawang merah)
  • 1 medium tomato (tomat)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil (kemangi)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • Cooking oil (for frying)
  • Soy sauce (kecap)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tuna: Start by frying the medium-sized tuna until it’s thoroughly cooked and lightly golden. Once done, remove it from the oil and let it cool slightly. After cooling, shred the tuna into bite-sized pieces.

  2. Make the Spice Paste: In a blender or food processor, combine the red chilies, garlic, red onion, and tomato. Blend until you achieve a smooth paste.

  3. Cook the Spice Paste: Heat a small amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the spice paste to the pan and cook, stirring frequently, until the paste changes color and the aromatic flavors are released.

  4. Combine Ingredients: Add the shredded tuna into the pan with the cooked spice paste. Stir well to ensure the tuna is evenly coated with the spice mixture.

  5. Season the Dish: Add salt, black pepper, and soy sauce to taste. Mix thoroughly to combine all the flavors.

  6. Serve: Once everything is well-mixed and heated through, your spicy shredded tuna is ready to be served. Enjoy this flavorful dish on its own or with steamed rice.

This Spicy Shredded Tuna is a delightful and savory dish that is easy to prepare and full of robust flavors. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal!
