Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Tempe (cubed) 1 block (about 250g)
Garlic 5 cloves
Shallots 7 shallots
Green chilies 7 pieces
Tomato 1 piece
Galangal (smashed) 3 cm
Bay leaves 3 leaves
Sweet soy sauce To taste
Salt To taste
Oil for frying As needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempe: Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the cubed tempe until lightly golden, ensuring it doesn’t become too dry. Remove and set aside.

  2. Sauté Aromatics: Slice the garlic, shallots, and green chilies. In the same pan, sauté the sliced ingredients along with the smashed galangal and bay leaves until fragrant.

  3. Combine and Cook: Add sweet soy sauce and salt to the aromatic mixture, stirring well to combine. Then, gently fold in the fried tempe, allowing it to cook until the tempe absorbs the flavors of the spices.

  4. Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy your flavorful Tempe Oreg Cabe Hijau as a delightful side dish!

This dish beautifully marries the nutty flavor of tempe with the vibrant heat of green chilies, making it a perfect complement to your meal.
