This Ayam Tahu Kecap recipe offers a delightful combination of chicken and tofu, infused with rich flavors and perfectly sautéed vegetables. It’s a great choice for a comforting meal that brings the essence of Indonesian cuisine to your table.

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Chicken (dada paha) 1/2 kg
Firm Tofu (tahu putih) 2 pieces
Long Beans (kacang panjang) 1 bunch
Onion (Bawang Bombay) 1 piece
Shallots (Bawang Merah) 3 cloves
Garlic (Bawang Putih) 3 cloves
Bird’s Eye Chili (Cabe Rawit) 3 pieces
Salt To taste
Pepper To taste
Seasoning (Masako) To taste
Sugar To taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Cut the tofu into cubes and fry them until golden brown and crispy. Set aside.

  2. Cook the Chicken: Fry the chicken pieces until they are crispy and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: Finely chop the onion, shallots, garlic, and chili. In a pan, sauté the onion until soft and fragrant. Add the shallots, garlic, and chili, and cook until aromatic.

  4. Add the Vegetables: Chop the long beans according to your preference and add them to the pan. Stir-fry and add a little water, cooking until the beans are tender.

  5. Combine the Ingredients: Once the beans are cooked, add sugar, salt, pepper, and seasoning to taste. Pour in kecap (sweet soy sauce) and enough water to create a sauce, then return the fried chicken and tofu to the pan. Cook until the flavors meld and the sauce is absorbed.

  6. Serve: Your Ayam Tahu Kecap is now ready to be served! Enjoy it with steamed rice for a complete meal.

This dish is a wonderful harmony of textures and flavors, making it an ultimate favorite for family dinners or gatherings.
