Triangular Chicken Siomay Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of chicken breast, finely blended
  • 1 stalk green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots (1 for mixing into the dough, 1 for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 6 tablespoons tapioca flour
  • Wonton wrappers

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely blended chicken with the tapioca flour, egg, finely chopped carrot, green onion, celery, and oyster sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

  2. Shape the Wontons:
Cut each wonton wrapper in half to form triangles. Place a small spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of each triangle. Fold the edges of the wrapper over the filling to form a triangular shape, pinching the edges to seal tightly.

  3. Steam the Siomay:
Arrange the shaped siomay in a steamer lined with parchment paper or a lightly oiled steaming rack. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the wrappers are tender.

  4. Garnish and Serve:
While the siomay is steaming, thinly slice the remaining carrot into strips for garnish. Once the siomay is cooked, you can either serve them as is or lightly fry them for added crispiness. Garnish with the carrot strips.

  5. Serve with Sauce:
For an extra treat, serve your siomay with peanut sauce for dipping, which adds a deliciously rich flavor. Enjoy them hot or warm!

Tip: These siomay are versatile and can be served as a snack or appetizer. If you prefer, you can also make them into a version similar to batagor by adding a bit of peanut sauce.

Enjoy your homemade triangular siomay!
