Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef bones
  • 1.5 liters water
  • 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger
  • 1/4 nutmeg
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Beef seasoning to taste
  • 2 stalks of green onions, sliced
  • For Serving:
    • Sliced bird’s eye chilies
    • Fried shallots
    • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Broth: In a large pot, bring the water to a boil. Add the beef bones and ginger. Reduce the heat and simmer until the broth becomes flavorful and the water has reduced slightly.

  2. Season the Broth: Add the nutmeg, ground black pepper, salt, and beef seasoning. Stir to combine.

  3. Add Vegetables: Incorporate the sliced carrots and green onions into the pot. Continue to simmer until the carrots are tender and the flavors have melded together.

  4. Serve: Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with sliced bird’s eye chilies, fried shallots, and a squeeze of lime juice to taste.

  5. Enjoy: Serve hot and enjoy the comforting flavors of this simple beef bone soup.

Tips: This hearty soup pairs wonderfully with steamed rice or crusty bread. Adjust the seasoning to your preference, and feel free to add other vegetables or herbs as desired.

Happy cooking!
