Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg beef, cut into cubes
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 potatoes, diced
  • 4 tablespoons macaroni
  • 3 cups Chinese cabbage (cuciwis), chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 4 shallots
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • A pinch of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Begin by cutting the beef into small cubes and washing them thoroughly. Place the beef cubes in a pot with enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil, then discard the first batch of water to remove impurities. Refill the pot with fresh water and return to a simmer.

  2. Prepare the Vegetables: While the beef is cooking, clean and dice the carrots and potatoes. Chop the celery and slice the green onion.

  3. Make the Spice Paste: In a blender or food processor, combine the black pepper, nutmeg, garlic, shallots, and salt. Blend into a smooth paste.

  4. Cook the Spice Paste: Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the spice paste and sauté until fragrant.

  5. Combine Ingredients: Add the sautéed spice paste to the pot with the beef broth. Let it cook together for a few minutes to meld the flavors.

  6. Cook the Macaroni and Vegetables: In a separate pot, cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Similarly, cook the diced carrots and potatoes until tender. Drain and set aside.

  7. Combine and Simmer: Once the beef is tender (about 40 minutes), add the cooked carrots, potatoes, and macaroni to the pot. Stir to combine.

  8. Add Greens: Add the chopped Chinese cabbage and green onion. Cook for an additional half-minute, then remove from heat.

  9. Finish and Serve: Garnish with fresh celery, tomato slices, and fried shallots. Your delicious Beef Macaroni Soup is now ready to be served!

Enjoy your hearty and flavorful soup that’s perfect for any occasion.
